Bonnievale River Lodge offers established riverside camping on the banks of the Breede River in the Western Cape Winelands. The campsite is suited to campers looking for a quiet, well-managed base close to water activities, vineyards, and small-town services.
The camping area consists of powered sites set on grass under trees, with a mix of elevated stands and river-level positions. Upper-level sites include wooden decks and nearby parking, while lower riverfront sites provide closer access to the water with parking a short distance away.
All camping stands are equipped with electrical points and fixed braai facilities. Campers must bring their own braai grids and standard camping equipment.
A central ablution block provides separate male and female facilities with hot showers. A shared kitchen area includes washing-up basins, a fridge, and a freezer for basic food storage.
The campsite follows a no-music policy to maintain a calm atmosphere. This makes it suitable for families, couples, and campers who prefer a quieter environment rather than party-focused camping.
The Breede River is directly accessible from the campsite and is suitable for swimming, floating, and paddling during warmer months. Canoes and tubes are available for hire on site, and guests may also bring their own non-motorised watercraft.
A swimming pool is located within the lodge grounds and is available to campers. Children also have access to a small play area, making the campsite practical for family stays.
Basic supplies such as firewood, ice, and drinks are available on site during office hours. Bonnievale town is a short drive away and offers grocery stores, fuel, hardware supplies, and medical services.
The location provides convenient access to the Robertson Wine Route, Route 62 attractions, and nearby nature activities. Campers often use the site as a base for wine tasting, river activities, hiking, and relaxed weekend breaks.
The campsite is pet-friendly by prior arrangement, with dogs required to be kept on leads at all times. Visitor access and vehicle movement may be limited during peak periods to maintain safety and space.
